What is onion extract?
Natural feed additives onion extract on growth performance, apparent nutrient deposition rate, serum biochemical parameters, carcass characteristics and meat quality in broilers. In the experiment, 400 3-day-old male ROSS 308 meat were randomly divided into 4 groups with 5 replicates in each group and 20 chickens in each replicate. Each group was supplemented with 0, 2.5, 5 and 7.5 g/kg of onion extract in the basal diet, and the experiment was carried out for 4 weeks. The results showed that: dietary supplementation of 5 g/kg onion extract significantly increased the body weight gain of broilers compared with the control group (P < 0.05), and the effect of dietary onion extract supplementation level on feed intake and weight gain showed a quadratic curve effect (P < 0.05). With the increase of dietary onion extract supplementation level, the apparent deposition rate of energy and crude fat showed a significant linear increase (P < 0.05), of which 7.5 significantly increased the apparent energy deposition compared with 2.5 g/kg onion extract group The rate of crude fat deposition in the 5 and 7.5 g/kg onion extract groups was significantly higher than that in the control group (P < 0.05). Compared with the control group, the onion extract group significantly increased the serum IgG level (P < 0.05). Dietary supplementation of onion extract significantly improved chicken meat color (P < 0.05).
